Sideshow summary

Hey guys!
Have been madly busy and a little distracted, but definitely need to lay down some thoughts on our Sideshow @ the Alley gig.
WITHOUT A DOUBT ONE OF MY MOST FAVOURITE SHOWS TO HAVE PLAYED EVER
There was a great turnout for the night and right from the start the bands on the bill were a pleasure to deal with. They all turned up at the beginning of the night and stuck around till the end of the night (gotta appreciate common courtesy, perhaps it's a girl band thing? :-P). We wanted to make it a nicely themed "sideshow" spectacle and each of the bands delivered in spades (not to mention their kick-ass music as well).
We had fairy lights, blow-up & fluffy toys, a big "big-top" curtain, chandeliers, and our very entertaining ringmaster Leigh who did a great job introducing each band and keeping the mood relaxed and fun. The vibe and atmosphere throughout the night was buzzing.
Especially loved the nurse's uniform from Aluer, the big hats from Attack of the 50ft Woman, and the Tutus/cuddly-bear headgear from Hot Liquid Sex.
As for us, Bragg had his Elton John sunnies/tinsel wig, I had my fairy-wings/ballroom mask/fluorescent collars, and Jode....well Jode dressed as normal :-)
Congrats also to Jen for winning the showbag for best dancer of the night and thanks for helping us by throwing our fluffy toys (most of which were strapped to my drumkit) into the crowd.
All in all it was an awesome romp of a night with LOTS of fun. We hope all of you who came along had just as much fun as us.
Photos should be up soon!
Night night,
Nathan

Hello my lovelies,
Thought I would write a quick journal entry since I'm still up. The Alley renovation show was a lot of fun, heaps of unbelievably great music and support shown for one of Brisbane's longstanding live venues. A big big thank you to our screaming , loyal and dancing crew of Rebecca, Amy, Jen, Dan, Henrik, Amanda, Zahira, etc
The Alley was heaps pleased with the support and funds that were raised for the day. Plus not only did we get to play with some of Brisbane's best bands, but the bumper-bowling afterwards topped off the night (my precision pinball angles worked a treat, heheheh).
I haven't been back to The Alley yet but I believe renovations are underway (if not complete) and I can't wait to see the result. Hopefully you can all make it to the follow up gig there (Saturday week) to check it out. I think the Ekka starts tomorrow so you'll have a good week to get it out of your system and finish up by partying with semicolon at The Alley :-P
Hmmmm, I think I'm even going to the Ekka this year, fluffy toys (errm, I mean strength tester) here I come....
Until the next update guys, keep on sending us those loving messages!

hello lovers.
i am without internet, which is why my entries have been few and far between of late. i have finally left the Lawlor nest and moved on into the big bad world of out-of-home-ness, and i gotta tell ya, it's like grade 8 camp with no teachers. Awesome.
In other news, we colonites are planning to release something (...ANYTHING!!) by the end of the year, whether we tour or just sit on our arses. However, i fear that if we stay perched on our behinds for much longer we will bleed out of our arses and die the death of a thousand sloths drowning in their own filth. [DISCLAIMER: this analogy was not approved by the boys prior to being posted.]
Big shout out to Nathan and Mel who are in England visiting the queen to seek redemption from the commonwealth for attending so many colon gigs. We love you and miss you guys and hope you are having a fucking ball and are too busy shagging to read this message.
Love jodie.
Oh and humble apologies to those who caught the last two songs of the alley set where i took my pants of and lit the room with my blinding white thighs. x. See your optometrists immediately.

Hello kind people,
Well we had our 4ZZZ Stereohog interview and Alley show last week. It was a fantastic weekend all-round. Siobhan the radio DJ was a very witty, friendly and gracious host and was great at keeping the nice laid back conversation going, plus we got to play some of our favourite songs! I've put the interview on the site for all to download if you likes. We have also been invited back for future shows so that's awesome! Thanks Siobhan! Bananarama rule.
The Alley show that night went down a treat. We got some positive feedback from people during the night and it's always nice to see people stop chatting/playing pool/drinking and actually be "captivated" by us.
We were told that Jode sure knows how to engage the audience (those of you who were there know specifics :-P), Bragg really *can* dance off-beat onstage, and apparently I'm a very "powerful" and entertaining drummer to watch.
Thank you to all those who turned up, funny how it's much nicer to play to a crowd, heheh.
Photos online soon!

Ok, well I'm not ready for sleep just yet, so here's a slightly delayed summary of the Basement gig a couple of weeks ago, but don't fear, as with all my journal entries, you know it'll be action packed and full of sugary goodness.
We were one of the earlier acts on for the night, we had the option of headlining, but alas I had other commitments later, so I asked the band if we could play the earlier slot and they agreed (god love 'em). Kinda sucked that the "Overcranked" festival was on at the same time which took a good deal of the usual crowd, but oh well, what can you do?
The show was still awesome, great onstage sound, great front of house sound (apparently) and some great audience response and interaction. As always Jode kept the banter flowing. CDs and shirts were bought (which is always a good thing). We also got to unveil another new song
"I can not forgive you"
which we wrote about 4 days before the show. We think it's one of our best ones yet.
I have to give a big shout out to Lou (sound engineer) at The Basement, always a pleasure to deal with; efficient, courteous and helpful. Also to Dave for being our roadie, taking pics and just being all-round happy company. Personally, it was great that a posse from work also came along as well, so thanks guys.
That's all for now, hope you were suitably impressed. :-)
'Night,
Nathan

Well hellooooo there
Just wanted to give some thoughts on the gig at "The Shed". Despite the crying weather, there was still a great turnout throughout the entire night, and the boys from Pacemaker have really done the hard yards in setting up such a regular event, so kudos to them for inviting us along for the fun.
We got awesome feedback and compliments from people after the show, were approached by Vinyl magazine for post gig photo shots, received invitations for interviews on Redcliffe radio station 99.7FM and managed to sell a bunch of CDs, shirts and lighters.
All and all a pretty satisfactory evening...
Catch you at Her Majesty's this weekend my pets

ooooh finger

Sunday, February 12, 2006 10:53:10 PM
my finger is in good condition. which is handy because i need my finger to do stuff... like play guitar (what were YOU thinking?? dirty dirty!). I still can't play bass, but i'm no good at that anyway. I'm not that great at guitar either, but don't tell anyone.
we recorded SAY IT, ARSEHOLES and GRAVY on last weekend with mickey (formerly from troyhorse) and these just need to be mixed. then we will endeavour to a different studio (maybe) to record a bunch of live tracks, use mickey's as the singles and release either 3 singles or 2 eps. bragg has also chased up a promotional grant which we have been shortlisted for, and if we get it we will have a swag of money to play with in may.
in other news, i got really maggot on the weekend and threw up on rebecca's stairs :( damn those laundromats they are a bad influence on us all - although shane did look extra spectacular in my bikini bottoms OH YEAH!! anyway, so i overdid it and now i am not drinking for a month. no-one believes that this will happen, but i will give it a go. Although i do graduate on thursday and i should probably at least haev a glass of champagne or something. and then we have the gig at clontarf and i have only ever played one sober semicolon show and i played terribly because i had the flu at the time. But we will see how i go and how far my alcoholism has deteriorated my psyche. I will keep you updated.
Love from jodie.
INJURY

Tuesday, December 06, 2005 7:19:32 PM
alas i am toying with the idea of havin a colon injuries section in the site. we can put up my skirmish bruises and braggs colonoscopy and nays... head..
anyway my latest injury was terrible. on saturday at about 2:45pm i accidentally sliced my finger open really badly (at work). unfortunately it is the middle finger on my left hand and unfortunately it cut more than half-way through the finger and i'm certain it's severed some nerve endings. it needed stitches (they come out on thursday) and so i can't play guitar for at least a few weeks (i am thinking it will be around a month to be honest). so poo's. poo's and wee's.
nevermind. hopefully it will heal if i don't do anything stupid like try to play guitar with the stitches still in (although i am increasingly tempted). i can't type properly and i am straining muscles in my left hand trying to compensate for the finger i can't use. I'm still working though (went to work today and still haven't filled in an incedent report form).
eh. chat soon.
the next gigs (thankfully) aren't till january.
27th @ the alley
28th (my b'day gig) @ the basement
4th feb.. somewhere i think..
recording will most probably have to be put back till I'm okay. injuries are balls.

hello fellow colonites
tis jodie here
i'm am proud to say i hosted a spa party on saturday night (at home while dad was away on a golfing trip) and it was fuckin awesome. kudos to luke (my singer), tezza (my vodafone drummer) , ben (my muse) shane (my love) and my mama (the most awesome mama in the world!!) at almost midnight, mum called my mate (fucking incredible bass player) jeremy and told him about all the pussy at the party WOO HOO!! GO luke with thte chick bent over the spa OH YEAH!!
anyway the long and short of it is that terry upset me so i threw my shorts at him while he was in the spa. however, my phone was in the shorts, therefore my phone is royally fucked and now i need to buy a newphone on my big day out ticket buying week. on the upside, terry works for vodafone and can hopefully do me a deal (seeing as it was his fault in the first place)...
Right now I'm at matts house. I am also naked (that's a lie but matt wanted me to put that in..). We are getting maggot just for fun.
FOr a good time call 0404 096161. ask for mistress matt.

Argh, I have been ill, hence my duties as Webman have been neglected. Thankfully Jode has pretty much summed up the exciting goodness of the NSW shows.
Did she mention the lawn bowls in old Wollongong shire though? I think not, how rock are we? Despite the fun factor involved, I do positively suck at lawn bowls.
The drive down was long, arduous and completely void of alcohol since us 3 boys (Bragg, Shane, and I) were taking driving shifts just to ensure we made it down to the 'gong in time for the gig. A big thankyou slap on the back must be given to Shane for making the trek with us, driving for a good portion of the journey, and enduring many an I-spy game with Jodie :-)
Thank you also to Jodie's grandparents, Lady Shellcote's family, and Monique the publicist for putting us up for a few nights. The Sydney shows were awesome, really great crowds; there was laughter, tears and comparisons i.e. I was told I'm Animal from the Muppets, Bragg is the bass player from The Living End, and Jodie is Matthew Bellamy from Muse.
The JB Hi-Fi show went particularly well, with our allocated number of CDs sold out, meaning we had to give JB more. A special thank you to my favourite Sydney crowd posse who came along to that show, consisting of Lady Shellcote, Mr/Mrs Shellcote, Jan Noll and Trevor, my Uncle Colin, Aunty Shirley, cousin Trina and Glen (+ the extras they brought along), as well as Monique the publicist!
Thanks heaps for all your positive feedback guys, for buying CDs and for buying (and wearing) our shirts!
The Spectrum gig was interesting, playing with The Follow and Gangawry, it's a cool little venue. Bragg and I were very very trashed that night after getting off the plane from Brisbane, high-tailing it to the venue and playing pretty much straight away.
Anyways, that's enough for now, we have our first show at QUT this Friday since getting back, hope you can all make it!
