who

Dave Patterson is Artistic Director of EAST BAY IMpRoV and the founder of its performance group. Dave has been performing, directing, and teaching improv for over 14 years. He has performed with a variety of improv groups over the years, including Loose Moose Theatre in Calgary Canada, Action Figures, LA Theatre Sports, BATS Improv, Ventura Theatresports, San Diego Theatre Sports, How We First Met and Um.. Gee ... Um. Here are some pictures of the performers that influence my work.

Zackary Quinn Patterson is EAST BAY IMpRoV's Creative Director, Director of our Pinole Projects, Senior instructor, and a professional improvisor and corporate trainer with over fifteen years of experience. She’s instructed and performed in Canada, the US and Europe. Among her extensive credits are performances at The Comedy Store in London; with Theatregroep Lawine in the Netherlands; and a First place finish at the Orlando International Improvisation Competition.

Dave Dyson was introduced to improv in EAST BAY IMpRoV's classes. Dave is a founding member of the EAST BAY IMpRoV Performance group. Dave has been known to appear in 5 or more performance groups in the same week! He is currently associated with many performance groups in the Bay Area, including The Fibbs, BATS, Unscripted Theatre, and Impact theatre.

Carole Honeychurch was introduced to improv in EAST BAY IMpRoV's classes and is currently a cast member and instructor in training. Carole appeared in "How We First Met" in the 2003 Valentine's Day run, with Unscripted Theatre's Shakepeare Improv run, and in several scripted works around the bay area.

Jennifer Simmons is an Albany resident who stumbled upon an East Bay Improv class one night, laughed for two straight hours, and never looked back. Having dreamed as a child of becoming an actress, she's tickled to take the stage with East Bay Improv. Off stage, she can be found grocery shopping, swing dancing, or at the park, improvising with her 4-year-old son.

Michael Coho. Having an 18" black and white Zenith as a surrogate parent, Michael was fascinated by the world of mindless entertainment during his early impressionable years. A pragmatic boy, Michael did well in school and when he grew up he created a successful career in Commercial and Residential Real Estate. Many years later, Michael realized that there was something missing, something that had fascinated him those many years ago.

Michael's voice-acting career began in 2000 with training at Voice One in San Francisco. It was there that another student told Michael about East Bay Improv, and after hearing about their amazing "street cred" he enrolled in classes and eventually performed with the troupe. Michael is represented by Tonry Talent and his website www.cohovoice.com is free to the public.

Steven Pascal; Steven Pascal spent twenty-four years in school (plus kindergarten) without realizing that the brain has two sides, one of which he had never used! This first came to light when he began taking classes at East Bay Improv in 1998 and was forced to use his right hemisphere for the first time. This exercise amounted to performing mental and verbal gymnastics with an organ capable of little more than "special olympics" maneuvers. After years of conditioning, Steven's brain is now ready to be seen in public. Steven has been one of the guest performers for East Bay Improv since 2002. He performs in our shows because it is fun and therapeutic and, as he likes to say, "it's better than a sharp stick in the eye."
Chet Anderson is a mystery within a riddle and he likes playing cops. He owes Dave a Bio.

Jonathan Stern: Jonathan's interest in improv stems from his deep-seated love of the random - a sense that thought processes neither need to be logical nor sequential. After years of study with BATS, Pan Theatre and East Bay Improv exercising his randomness, Jonathan is finally ready to be seen in public - "It sure as hell beats working".

On those rare instances when he is not improvising or working -- where he frequently subjects his co-workers to improv games in corporate meetings, "What genre would you like to hold this meeting in?" -- Jonathan flies his airplane and writes songs.

Kicky McFidget Patterson is our youngest improvisor. She has listened in on discussions of improv theory her whole life. She likes Dr. Suess books, but not Dr. Suess movies.
